TIPS

DRIVING AND HANDLING MOTHER NATURE

Handle Mother Nature even before you start. Remove all snow and ice from your vehicle and defrost windows before driving to enable optimal steering, traction and visibility.

Light the Road

Turn on your headlights to improve visibility when driving in the rain or snow, and always remain alert.

Steady as She Goes

Start slowly, brake gently and carry an emergency kit in case of a breakdown. When driving in snow, continue to drive at a reduced speed to compensate for loss of traction and the need for increased stopping distance.

Don't Cruise Through Rain

When you drive through standing water, your tires can lose solid contact with the road, causing your cruise control to increase speed and creating a dangerous hydroplaning event. You should therefore turn off your cruise control when it's raining.

Foggy Driving

Never tailgate when driving in fog, and always keep your headlights on.
