Highlights of Operations

Today, Chevron ranks among Angola's top petroleum producers, with a total daily production of 594,000 barrels of liquids in 2007 (171,000 net barrels).

We are continuing our major development program to significantly increase production of the offshore Benguela Belize–Lobito Tomboco project (BBLT). The project is expected to reach maximum daily production in late 2008 or early 2009. Also in 2008, construction began on a 5.2 million-metric-ton-per-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant.

The company is Angola's largest foreign oil-industry employer. The company employs approximately 2,700 Angolan nationals, who account for 87 percent of the total workforce. In addition, Angolan nationals fill 75 percent of the professional and supervisory roles.

Chevron has an interest in four concessions – Block 0 off the west coast of the Cabinda province, Block 14 farther west in the deep water, Block 2 offshore northwest Angola and the onshore block Fina Sonangol Texaco (FST) – as well as an onshore LNG joint venture, Angola LNG.
